Now that the dust has settled on a busy few months for Procurement Hub, it is time to reflect on our successful attendance at two of the largest industry events in the exhibition calendar - CIH Housing 2017 in Manchester and the LGA conference and exhibition in July.
The two months following these events have proved to be the busiest since we launched in 2015. With Procurement Hub attracting a significant number of business contacts from both events, and reaching a milestone of over 200 members, it’s only now we’re able to take a step back and breathe.
Over the three days of Housing 2017 stand D34 was a (Procurement) Hub of activity with things happening both on and off stand. We had one of highest profiles at the conference being the only organisation with five speaking engagements on the agenda. Away from our stand Alan Heron, Head of Procurement, led a packed out discussion looking ahead from the Government triggering Article 50 and what it means for housing organisations in the UK .
Our Group Chief Executive, David Cowans, formed part of a panel discussing what business models of the future will look like to another packed out theatre. Meanwhile our Placemaking and Regeneration Group Director, Mary Parsons, discussed ways of creating tenure blind communities whilst our Director of Product and Service, Alex Notay, considered innovative development funding models.
Procurement Hub Operations Manager, Neil Jones and Business Development Manager, Debra Green also relaunched our Green Services procurement solution alongside our supplier Fortem. Following on from the completion of the initial contract period, this enhanced solution (the Built Environment framework) includes help with the installation (supply and fit) of environmentally-friendly materials, consultancy, financial advice and legal support. Following the highly topical panel session we marked the launch with a well-received drinks reception on stand joined by suppliers and clients alike.
But we didn’t stop there!
The following week we welcomed senior council members at the LGA Annual Exhibition and Conference 2017, showcasing our wide range of solutions.
Our attendance proved to be a big hit at the conference with many delegates looking for innovative ways to reduce their costs as budgets constrict, whilst maintaining a high level of OJEU compliant, quality suppliers.
It’s been an exciting few months since our attendance at both exhibitions. With numerous prospective clients approaching us to support them in engaging the right supplier for their projects, whilst meeting their quality and budgetary requirements, it looks as though the pace isn’t going to slow down any time soon!
