Celebrating our monthly charity partners for 2023/24: Making a Difference Through Giving Back

Blog Banner 2

At Procurement Hub we believe in the power of giving back and making a positive impact to communities.

Being part of a social enterprise means that any surplus generated through our procurement solutions is not directed into shareholders' pockets but is instead reinvested where it matters most, into social housing, social value, and charitable projects. By channelling resources into these critical areas, we strive to create a ripple effect of positive change that aligns with our core values to make a difference in the lives of those who need it most.

As a commitment to making a positive social impact, we have been donating to a different charity each month from our social value fund since April 2020 through our Giving Back initiative.

This year, so far we have donated £97,931 to our monthly charity partners in 2023/24.

This April we donated £13,679 to Mind, this could help run their online peer support community Side By Side for 683 hours, helping people connect with others and feel less alone. Their aim is to make sure nobody has to face a mental health problem alone.

In May, we donated £13,679 to Ronald McDonald Houses Charity UK. It costs £35 to accommodate a family for one night, and the average length of stay at our Houses is 16 nights. Your fundraising could make a real impact on the lives of families with children in hospital. Our donation could cover the cost for 390 nights stay.

For June, we donated £13,679 to The Trussell Trust. Through monetary donations, they can change lives not just today, but tomorrow and in years to come. It enables the charity to plan for the future and ensure money is available where it is needed most. They support a nationwide network of food banks, providing emergency food and support to people facing hardship, and campaign for change to end the need for food banks in the UK.

July saw our long standing partner, Guide Dogs as our dedicated charity. We donated £18,964 that could go towards 824 hours of training for a puppy who will go on to make an enormous difference to someone living with sight loss.

Charity partner, Derian House Children's Hospice received a donation of £18,964 for the month of August to help them care for more than 400 seriously ill babies, children and young people across the North West. This money could pay for 252 sessions of hydrotherapy in their pool as a great form of exercise for those who are affected by illness.

Our charity of the month in September was Samaritans who recognise that silence costs lives and that talking about suicidal feelings can stop them. We have donated £18,964 to help their volunteers in preventing suicide by making sure there is someone for people to talk to when they're struggling to cope. Our donation could help them answer 3792 calls for help that could save a life.

October was our dedicated month to Diabetes UK, a leading charity in the UK that researches, campaigns, and provides information for people with all types of diabetes. Our £26,581 donation could help fund life saving research and treatments into all types of diabetes to prevent or cure, transforming millions of lives.

In support of their appeal night, we donated £26,581 to BBC Children in Need for the month of November. The UK's biggest charity dedicated to helping disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.

Throughout December, our charity partner was Crisis who campaigned to tackle homelessness. Our £26,581 donation can help them provide warm meals, shelter, support and companionship at Christmas to those experiencing homelessness.

Our contributions will help these organisations continue their vital missions.

Whether it's providing essential services to those in need, advancing critical research, or making a significant impact in communities. We are proud to show our appreciation for the invaluable work each charity does in their respective fields.
